HISTORY

Young Ladies Institute is a benefit society of Catholic women, founded in San Francisco, September 5th, 1887.  Today, there are over 11,000 active members in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.

 

Sacred Heart Institute #141, St. Peter's Church was organized on March 25th, 1934 and has a membership of over 100.

 

We invite all interested Catholic Women to join us as we serve our church and the greater community in the model of Christ.

 


 

WHO WE ARE

Y.L.I is an organization which has for it's objectives the moral, mental, and social advancement of Catholic women and the extending of assistance to members in time of sickness or need.  Our many projects support our church and community.

 

 


 

BENEFITS

Beneficial members recieve a death benefit of $900.  A Rosary Prayer Ritutal is offered for deceased members.  Included in Membership of the National Council of Catholic Women Worldwide Association.

All members receive spiritual benefits, friendship and support.  Membership is open to all Catholic women.

 


  WE SUPPORT

Our Parish - In all activities, especially serving families in hosting receptions for funerals, First Communions and Confirmation ceremonies, coffee hours and the R.C.I.A. Breakfast.  We sponsor Children's Religious Education Library and contribute books and videos in English and Spanish.

 

Our Community - We serve our local community through charitable programs such as Coats For Kids, Toys For Tots, Dixon Family Services, The Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center, The Gabriel Project, C.A.C, and Bishop Gallegos Unwed Mother's Home. We participate in the Dixon May Fair Garden Booth Competition, host community speakers, and annual Soup and Salad luncheons.

 

Our Grand Institute Programs - Through our Y.L.I. Grand Institute, we contribute annually to the costs of educating seminarians and Grand Institute projects such as Habitat For Humanity in 2001, Oakland Children's Hospital in 2002, and Make A Wish Foundation in 2003.

 

Our Spirituality - We foster our spiritual growth through monthly prayer, spiritual retreats, perpetual novenas and enrollments, a Parish Communion Brunch and Day of Reconciliation.  A sponsor of Sacramento Diocese, Y.L.I Golden Jubilee Burse for the Education of Seminarians since 1937.
