Business Meeting Minutes for Knights of Columbus, Council 10378, August 13, 2007

 

Call to Order began at 7:30 P.M. with the following:

 

§        Pledge of Allegiance and Opening Prayer

 

§        Warden’s Report and Review of Minutes from July, 2007

 

Officers Absent: Outside Guard, Inside Guard, Warden

 

Grand Knight’s Report: Thank you everyone who worked at the Lamb Town festival.  We made about $380.00 profit after expenses.  Thanks for Brother Steve for running the upcoming Blood Drive. Our goal is 20 pints and we need everyone’s support. Thanks to everyone who came and helped out at our family week BBQ, We had more than 75 in attendance. I will be teaching RCIA and Confirmation this upcoming year and have been appointed as the Chapter Webmaster.  Please continue to support the Pro-Life Rosary held every Monday before this Business Meeting at 7:00.  Thanks to Brother Wolfe for working on the Keep Christ in Christmas bumper magnets fundraiser. Next Officer’s meeting will be Saturday, March 25th at Brother Tenari’s House followed by a Poker Tournament. Officers will be notified of times, but all Knights are invited to attend.

 

Initiations:   None        We have 3 candidates for the next 1st Degree

 

Chaplain’s Report:       None

 

Treasury/Financial Report: Balance in account is #1,913.87 as of August 1, however, there is $750.00 in outstanding payments for Lamb town and misc. expenses which will bring our account balance to near $1,200

 

Committee Reports:

           

Brother Jeff .Null is looking for new members for the Venture Crew.  The Soccer Challenge is now tentatively to be held on September 15th at Northwest Park per Brother Tenari.  A fundraiser for the Alpha Pregnancy Center is being looked into, possibly the coins in baby bottle campaign. GK Jeff McCarty will be the contact person for the anti-drug poster contest. GH Jeff and Brother Tenari will co-chair the Free Throw Contest.  Brother Claudr discussed the need for replastering the ceiling in the choir loft.  He will investigate costs further.  We may need to drop 3 members for delinquency in dues of more than one year.

 

Continuing Business: 

  • Oktoberfest planning for September 30 is ongoing and is being run by Brother Tenari and Brother Dave Scholl
  • Blood Drive at the Parish Hall is August 26th
  • Corporate Communion Mass and Breakfast afterwards being planned by Brother Steve for Sept 23.  He is firming up the breakfast location.
  • Brother Wolfe reported that fundraising magnet sales were dong well
  • Tootsie Roll Drive:  Brother Jeff Poarch is running this event and has booked Safeway and ordered 7 cases of tootsie rolls through the Vacaville Council.  New aprons will not be needed.
  • Tip bucket at Lambton had $65.00 which will be used for the Wheel Chair Fund.

 

 

 

New Business:

  • Trustee Wolfe Whalen discussed the possibility for a fundraiser in conjunction with the Alpha Pregnancy Center as the financier to show the movie “Bella”.
  • Knights of Columbus garage sale will be at GK Jeff’s house on September 1.  Please drop off all donations ASAP.
  • GK Jeff is coordinating along with the YLI, a goodbye party for Sister Vanya and Penny Hoffman, who are moving to Oklahoma, on September 8th 5:30 pm at the Parish Hall. Tri-Tip sandwiches will be part of the menu.
  • Mass for Father McGivney is August 14, 8:00 A.M.  A link to the Fr. McGivney Guild is on our website
  • Knights World Day for Peace is September 11th.  (info)
  • Membership Blitz was discussed with a possibility to be held on September 9th in conjunction with the donut hours or on September 23rd.

 

District Deputy Report:

  • Worthy District Deputy Ray Marin announced upcoming 1st degree are October 9tth and December 11th and both are in Vacaville. Great job on all the events the council is hosting, and with only one more you are already meeting the benchmark for receiving Star Council.  The District has risen close to $30,000 for charitable causes.

 

Insurance Agent Report:  Worthy Field Agent warned about the dangers of taking out low cost insurance on you and your family.  Look at the fine print for the many exceptions of death benefits on these so called low-cost policies.

 

4th Degree Report:  Upcoming 4th Degree Installation ceremonies will be Rohnert Park (Feb. 2); Sacramento (April 14), and Elkhorn, NV (Nov 10).  If you would like to be a 4th Degree member, please see Faithful Captain Jeff Poarch

Good of the Order:   The following unanimous resolutions were approved by this Council: Resolution for Congratulations and Appreciation for Deacon Bob Ikleman for 50 years as a Knight and 20 years as a Deacon to the Church.  Resolution of Appreciation for Ray Cabral and Family for helping a Brother in need. Resolution of Appreciation for all Catholic Deacons everywhere.

 

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M. with prayers; followed by beverages, 50/50 drawing and pizza.  A Membership drawing was held for a $20.00 prize,  but Rick Fuller was not present to win.  It will be $25.00 at our September meeting.
