Text Box: Dear Worthy Brother Knights.

We’ve had a busy month in July I attended the chapter meeting in Placerville with our Worthy Deputy Grand Knight and the District Deputies Meeting in Fairfield with our DGK and PGK Wolfe Whalen. We had a successful beer concession at Lambtown, raising about $300 and a fun time was had by all. My most heartfelt thanks to Tenari Tuatagaloa, Wolfe Whalen, Joe Kievernagle, Jeff Poarch, Alex Playford, Jeff Howitson and Dave Scholl for their help and support on this event. We have completed the audits and have submitted them, thanks to Jeff Poarch, Wolfe Whalen, Tenari Tuatagaloa for getting this done. All of our reports are up to date and on time.

We have a lot of upcoming events and will need volunteers to help with them. We are bringing back the attendance bonus drawing starting at $20 and it will grow $5 each month until somebody wins. Thanks to Steve Hamera for running our Blood Drive on Aug. 26th and for organizing our Corporate Communion Mass and Breakfast on Sept. 23rd. Tenari is working on the Soccer Challenge and with Dave Scholl on the Oktoberfest that will be held on Sept 30th. We have the Substance Abuse Poster Contest that will be brought to the St. Peter CCD program in October and the Tootsie Roll Drive being chaired by Jeff Poarch on Oct 19th-21st. Thank you to Wolfe Whalen for chairing our Keep Christ in Christmas car magnet sale and for his work on Vocations.

We have a 1st Degree in Vacaville on Aug 14th and I hope to have all four of our candidates in this. We have 3rd Degrees Sept. 22nd in Auburn, Feb 9th in Carmichael and Feb 16th in Vallejo. If you haven’t made your 3rd Degree yet, try and plan on making one of these, it is an experience of a lifetime that you won’t forget.

Thank you , may God richly bless you.
Vivat Jesus!

Text Box: Have you ever heard the expression “lazy days of summer?” While the hot weather may encourage a slower paced life, in many ways summer can be the busiest time of the year. Especially for parents with school-aged children. And being busy, it’s easy to forget about such things as reviewing your life insurance coverage.

The purpose of this column is to encourage you to meet with me, your Knights of Columbus agent, before the end of the summer. Whether or not you have life insurance with the Order, I’ll be happy to meet with you and make sure your coverage continues to meet your needs and goals. If you’ve had any life changes since you last bought a policy (new home, new child, new job, etc.), chances are your life insurance needs to be updated. I’ll work with you to make sure you have the coverage you need at a price you can afford.

Call me to set up an appointment. When we meet, you’ll discover that time spent with your Knights of Columbus agent is time well-spent. But, make the call today. Because summer is not only busy, it’s also coming to an end.

Text Box: From our Supreme Knight Carl Anderson—During his recent visit to Assisi, Pope Benedict XVI called for all people to become “instruments of peace through thousands of small gestures in their daily lives.” The annual Knights of Columbus World Day of Prayer for Peace, to be held September 11th, fulfills this request by forming the “small gestures” of Knights throughout the Order into a powerful offering of prayer for peace.
Text Box: Pray for Vocations - We have a beautiful statue of Mary that we have started circulating around to various parish families to pray for vocations.  The statue was donated to use for this purpose.  Our intention is for the family to display our Blessed mother, and then have regular family prayer devotion for vocations. After two weeks, they would deliver her to the next family. She will be at our Corporate Communion Mass in September to be blessed and present the program to the parish. If you would like to host her at your home, call GK Jeff McCarty at 530-400-7540
